Garbage

Solid Waste is a division of Leesburg's Public Works Department that provides curbside, bulk debris, and commercial dumpster waste collection as well as cardboard pick-up for businesses.

Residential
The City provides residential customers with 90 gallon containers for household and small amounts of yard waste. Curbside collections are twice a week. Some residential condominiums and apartments utilize dumpsters, which are serviced on a separate schedule determined by the customers' needs.
Commercial
Businesses can use everything from relatively small curbside collection to large dumpsters depending on the amount of waste they generate. Collections vary from once to six times a week.
Bulk Collection
Bulk household items are collected on the first scheduled pickup day of the week and yard waste is collected on the second scheduled pickup day of the week. A fee will be charged in some cases of bulk collection.

Please Note: The City cannot remove hazardous waste (paint, oil, chemicals ,batteries or explosives).  Please call the Lake County Department of Environmental Services (352-343-3776) for important instructions.

Annexations
Occasionally areas of unincorporated Lake County are annexed into the City of Leesburg. When an annexation occurs, there is no immediate change to the solid waste collection schedule or provider in the annexed area.
Florida law requires that the company providing solid waste services under a franchise agreement with Lake County for at least six months prior to the annexation may continue for a period of five years or until the expiration of the existing franchise agreement.
What this means is that citizens and businesses in newly annexed areas will continue to be served by the same solid waste collection firm.
