Aquatic Facility and Teen Center Moving Forward

Construction of the new Leesburg aquatic facility is underway at the Pine Street location near downtown. The facility will feature a zero-entry pool, slides, an 8-lane competition pool and supporting restroom and operational facilities. The project is about 25% complete. Much of the site work is finished including installation of a permanent dewatering system. Upcoming work will include drying-in of the building and the pool Teen Enrichment Center
structural elements. Unfortunately, there was a design delay, so the opening date has been pushed back. Construction should be finished by mid-August with an anticipated formal opening on Labor Day.

The Teen Enrichment Center is set to begin construction in mid-March. The facility will be located adjacent to the city gymnasium on Griffin Road and will offer recreational, educational and enrichment programs for area youth. It is being developed in partnership with the Boys and Girls Clubs of Central Florida. The goal is to have the center open by early 2022.

Electric and Water Department Rebate Programs

The City currently offers two rebate programs which encourage residents to conserve our resources and save money.

The Electric Department’s Energy Efficiency Rebate Program offers rebates for upgrading eligible appliances. Rebates are applied as a credit to the customer’s utility bill and are available to owner-occupied Leesburg electric residential customers who install equipment that meets program criteria.

Rebate funds are limited and are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Forms and additional information are available on the Electric Department page of the city website at Customers can also call 352-728-9786 ext. 2066 for details.

The Public Works Department launched a Water Conservation Incentive Program in October. This initiative is designed to reduce water waste by encouraging customers to upgrade inefficient household fixtures and irrigation systems. Rebate amounts vary based on the item being upgraded.
Pre-approval is required for this program. Customers who wish to participate in the water rebate program must contact the Water Conservation Coordinator to determine funding availability prior to making any purchase. Please email or call 352-435-9442. Information can also be found on the Water Conservation Incentive and Rebate Program webpage at
