Groundbreaking scheduled for Leesburg’s new Teen Center
LEESBURG, FL – Work will soon begin on Leesburg’s new Teen Enrichment Center. The official groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 12 at the Leesburg Recreational Complex site, 1851 Griffin Road.
The facility will be located adjacent to the existing gymnasium building and will encompass 10,045 square feet. The $2.75 million project is being developed in partnership with the Boys and Girls Clubs of Central Florida.
“This project has been in the works for many years and I am very excited that we are moving forward,” said Mayor John Christian. “This state-of-the-art facility will serve our community for generations to come.”
Plans include ten multipurpose rooms to accommodate recreational, educational and enrichment programs for elementary, middle and high school students. There will also be separate outdoor areas for youth and teens. The facility was designed by CPH Engineering and will be built by Evergreen Construction.
The goal is to have the center open by early 2022.
The public is invited to attend the groundbreaking ceremony. For more information, call the Public Works Department at 352-435-9442.
