The purpose of the class is to operate heavy equipment in support of City maintenance operations. The class is responsible for operating various types of heavy equipment, minor equipment maintenance, assisting and supporting City facility and area maintenance, and minor administrative tasks. The class works according to some procedures, but decides how and when to do things under general supervision. Requires a high school diploma or GED. Specialized vocational training helpful. Requires two years or more experience in heavy equipment operation or sewer cleaning and televising equipment maintenance and safety pertaining to underground utility construction field. Requires a valid State of Florida Class “A” CDL (no restrictions) with a tanker endorsement and satisfactory driving record as a condition of initial and continued employment. Must obtain a Stormwater Class C certification within 2 ½ years of hire and Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) certification within 6 months of hire.
