The purpose of the class is to operate mobile equipment and perform skilled work in support of City maintenance operations. The class is responsible for operating light to medium mobile equipment, minor equipment maintenance, assisting and supporting City facility and area maintenance, and minor administrative tasks. The class works according to some procedures, but decides how and when to do things under general supervision. Requires a high school diploma or GED. One year or more of experience in equipment operation and maintenance, repair and/or construction of utilities preferred. Requires a valid State of Florida driver license and a satisfactory driving record as a condition of initial and continued employment. Must obtain a Class B CDL permit within three (3) months of employment and obtain a Class B CDL within 6 months of employment. Obtain a Class C Certification for required field within 24 months after the end of probationary period. This position requires employees to reside within a 20-mile radius of the intersection of Main Street and 14th Street in Leesburg due to on call rotation requirement.
