The Leesburg Electric Department has served customers in Leesburg, Fruitland Park and surrounding areas since 1924. 

The Department has more than 40 employees, consisting of five line crews, a four-person substation crew, a four-person meter shop, eight-person operations center and a four-person service planning division, along with administrative staff.

The department has 5 substations, providing power to over 26,000 customers. The distribution system is predominately underground with over 60% of the system having buried primary and secondary lines.

The City of Leesburg Electric department has implemented a new phone system for electric outages. This phone system will enable dispatchers to handle more calls during an outage.
