Apprentice - $14.29 - $19.75 per hour
The purpose of the class is to perform routine manual work in both stormwater and wastewater collections divisions.  This class is responsible for service work such as digging trenches, cleaning ditches; assists with installation of fixtures such as pipes, valves, fittings, and manholes; landscape, road, sidewalk, driveway restoration and other outdoor work.  Completes logs or routine records.  The class works according to set procedures under direct supervision.  Weekend, holiday and after- hours work may be required, as well as after-hours response and emergencies. Requires a high school diploma or GED.  Employee must obtain the following certifications within 18 months of hire (city will provide training): MOT, Confined Space, and Class “C” Stormwater Certificate. Requires a valid State of Florida driver license and satisfactory driving record as a condition of initial and continued employment.  Must obtain a Class B CDL permit w/tanker within 3 months of hire and license with no restrictions within 6 months of employment.  Employee must live within a 20-mile radius of the city limits of Leesburg due to the on-call rotation requirement.

 Each level below requires a high school, GED, and formal training, special courses, or self-educated equivalent to satisfying completion of one year of college educated or specialized advanced training in the Stormwater field.  Must live within a 20-mile radius of the city limits of Leesburg due to on-call rotation requirement.  May mentor and assist in training of less experienced operations staff.  Maintain compliance using experience and best management practices.  Minimum requirements are as follows:

Technician “C” - $16.67 - $23.08 per hour
This class is responsible for service work such as digging trenches, cleaning ditches; assists with installation of fixtures such as pipes, valves, fittings, and manholes; landscape, road, sidewalk, driveway restoration and other outdoor work, completing logs or routine records, operating light to medium mobile equipment, minor equipment maintenance, assisting and supporting City facility and area maintenance, and minor administrative tasks.  The class works according to written and verbal procedures, but decides how and when to do things under general supervision. Requires 2,080 hours of experience in Stormwater.  Must possess a valid Class “C” Certificate in Stormwater.  Must possess and maintain a valid State of Florida Class “B” CDL with tanker endorsement and no restriction driver’s license and satisfactory driving record as a condition of initial and continued employment. Confined Space Entry Competency Training, MOT Approved Certification.   Must obtain a Class “C” Wastewater Certification within 18 months of hire.
