Targeting Areas of Community Concern
The department's T.A.C.C. Team plays a very diverse role in our community. This two-man team
is devoted solely to targeting areas of concern within our community and work very closely with
the schools, local landlords, merchants, and neighborhood watch groups. Officers assigned to
this team work varied schedules and utilize both marked and unmarked cars as well as police
mountain bikes in order to accomplish their assigned tasks.
The team's duties vary based on the needs of the community but include such activities as
Bicycle Patrol, Marine Patrol, Narcotics/Vice, Code Enforcement and Surveillance. The team
also works closely with School Resource Officers and has been responsible for a great deal
of enforcement activity relating to the possession of tobacco products by minors and the
processing of truants from our schools.
The team plays and diverse role in our community and is a prime example of the department's
commitment to the community oriented policing philosophy.
