Dear LSBG.net Customer,

The City of Leesburg would like to thank you for choosing our dial-up internet service during the past several years. We appreciate the opportunity to have provided you with your connection to the Internet.

As the number of customers for this service has dramatically decreased throughout the past few years, it has become increasingly difficult to provide both the service and the support necessary to maintain this segment of our business. The shift in the business from dial-up to broadband service continues to grow from month to month.

The City has contracted out the support calls to different suppliers and tried to handle the overflow calls ourselves. This approach has slowed responses to our customers because our personnel resources are limited. Accordingly, we must inform all our remaining dial-up customers that the City will no longer be offering this service as of October 1, 2008. This decision was reviewed and adopted by the Leesburg City Commission at their regularly scheduled meetings on July 28, 2008 and on August 11, 2008.

As a customer, this means your dialup and email services with LSBG.net will no longer be available after October 1, 2008. We will be maintaining the email server for 30 additional days, through November 1, 2008, facilitating access to your LSBG.net mail through your new provider’s connection. That should provide sufficient time to notify all your correspondents of your new email address. We have provided a sample list of several companies (**) that offer similar dial-up service at the end of this letter.

We will be sending out multiple notices to our customers between now and October 1st to ensure everyone gets the message in enough time to make the appropriate changes.
