Gala Author Reception

The second annual reception to celebrate the written word and to highlight the accomplishments of Florida's outstanding authors is presented free to the public. 
Featured Authors include: Julie Compton, nancy cohen, Lucienne Diver, Vic DiGenti, M C Finotti, John Henry Fleming, Jeffrey Lamb, Steve Rajtar, Eric Reinhold, Mark Schweizer, Cynthia Thomason, Elaine Viets and, Dolores Wilson.

Writing Workshops

9:00-10:30am
"How to get published: The business of Writing"
Nancy Cohen gives practical details and useful examples to assist aspiring writers from submitting a manuscript to a publisher to marketing one's own work.

10:45-12:45pm
"From an Agent's Perspective"
Lucienne Diver will give advice on how to approach an agent and what a new author can expect.

2:00-3:30pm
"Murder, Love and Laughter"
Be entertained by four of Florida's best-selling, award winning writers. Mark Schweizer, Dolores Wilson, Elaine Viets, and Nancy Cohen. Combining romance, humor and suspense, with smart dialogue and quirky characters, these writers offer us brilliant descriptions of life with a humorous twist.
Meet The Artist
Meet  local artist John Massey who will exhibit and discuss some examples of his work. The exhibit will be at the Leesburg Public Library on Saturday, March 27th in room A. There will be a morning showing at 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM and an afternoon showing at 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM.  Mr. Massey will be on hand to explain some of his artistic themes and to discuss his work.  Light refreshments will be served in the afternoon. Free and open to the public.

The Leesburg Public Library is proud to present this amazing online database, exploring the history and culture of African Americans by providing rock-solid information from authorities in the field, and allowing African Americans to speak for themselves through a wealth of primary sources.  Here's how to access this wonderful resource:  Click on the Research tab on our Library homepage; select Library Online Resources; click on EBSCO:  Greenwood:  The African American Experience.  Your Patron ID is your library card number.  The User Name and Password are provided.

Bus Service to the Library
The Lake Transit bus now stops at the Leesburg Public Library on Main Street.  Riders can wait for the bus on the park bench under the awning on the Elk Street side of the main entrance.  Other benches are available on Elk Street near the "Bird Watchers" sculpture under the oak tree.  Stop by the Library to pick up a bus schedule.

Help Support Our Troops via "Operation Ziplock"
Our patrons and staff have already sent 710 care packages (in the form of one-gallon resealable bags of toiletries and personal items) to our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan!  For information about how to help, come in to the Leesburg Library or call 352-728-9790.
