e-Reader and Tablet Help at the Library
     Get help with your e-Reader or Tablet, and learn to download free eBooks and audiobooks on Tuesday, June 4th at 10 am at the Leesburg Public Library.  This is an informal, drop-in session for those with e-Reader or Tablet questions.  For more information call 352-728-9790 or e-mail librarian@leesburgflorida.gov
Crafting Time @ the Library

Adults interested in doing crafts will have a new opportunity on the first Monday of each month at the Leesburg Public Library, located at 100 E. Main St., Leesburg, FL  34748.  Each month participants are invited to join the free monthly planned activity or bring their own projects and enjoy time with crafty friends from 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm in the Storytime Room on the first floor of the library.  For more information call 352-728-9790 or e-mail librarian@leesburgflorida.gov

Helping Hand Tuesdays at the Leesburg Public Library

Do you need help applying for Medicare, Medicaid, food stamps, or temporary cash assistance? Every Tuesday, one-on-one assistance with Medicaid and food stamp applications will be provided by Access FL between 10 am and 2 pm.  Also, trained SHINE volunteers will be on hand from 10 am to noon every Tuesday to provide Medicare information and counseling.  Pre-registration is not necessary.  The Leesburg Public Library is located at 100 E. Main Street, Leesburg, FL  34748. 

GROUNDBREAKING READS
     This summer anyone over the age of 18 can again join in the fun of a Summer Reading Program.  Groundbreaking Reads is this summer's adult program at the Leesburg Public Library, and we are focusing on an archaeological theme!  Participants earn chances to win one of several prize bags chock-full of great items by reading books, listening to audio books, or attending special programs, including the Legendary Locals of Lake County at 2 pm on June 18th, Author @ the Library Mary Anna Evans at 10:30 am & 2 pm on June 25th, the October Mountain Washtub Band at 2 pm on July 6th, the Mote-Morris House History and Dig at 2 pm on July 16th, and Guitarist Tom LaVenia at 2 pm on July 23rd.
     Register at the Library, 100 E. Main St., Leesburg, beginning June 3rd.  The program runs through July 31st.  Call the Library at 728-9790 for further information.
American Ancestors - Our Featured Online Database for May

When you sit down at a computer in the Leesburg Public Library, you have free access to the database of the oldest genealogical society in the nation - the New England Historic Genealogical Society, established in 1845.  This American Ancestors database is the go-to-source for researching your roots in New England, New York, Pennsylvania, and beyond.  You can access full-text online images of genealogical journals such as the New England Historical and Genealogical Register from 1847 to 1994, genealogies, vital records of many New England towns, military records, and church records.  The database is updated regularly.  In addition to the plethora of records available, you may e-mail one of their genealogists with a question or view one of several tutorials to improve your research methods.  Just go to www.leesburgflorida.gov/library and click on the Research Tab, select Leesburg Library Online Resources and American Ancestors.  Not available remotely.

Access your library account

This button (or the My Account link on the left panel) will take you directly to your account on the library catalog website.  There you can check to see what you have borrowed, what items are due and when, what you have on "hold", what items might have come in for you to pick up, and you can renew items from home.  From there you can go to the main catalog page, look up items, create lists, etc.

Volunteer at the Library!

Bus Service to the Library
The Lake Transit bus now stops at the Leesburg Public Library on Main Street.  Riders can wait for the bus on the park bench under the awning on the Elk Street side of the main entrance.  Other benches are available on Elk Street near the "Bird Watchers" sculpture under the oak tree.  Stop by the Library to pick up a bus schedule.

The Leesburg Public Library makes meeting space available when not in use for Library or City events.
