Subject:                      Resolution approving a no-cost time extension to the EECBG Grant Agreement #17619 (formerly # ARE024) between the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services and the City of Leesburg.

 

 


Staff Recommendation:

Staff recommends acceptance of the no-cost time extension to the EECBG Grant Agreement No. 17619 between the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services and the City of Leesburg.

 

Analysis:

Leesburg’s current EECBG Project is set to expire on April 30, 2012 and the current meter deployment is schedule during the months of June, July, and August 2012. Staff applied for a no-cost time extension for completion of this project and the Grant Agreement #17619 reflects our request.

 

Options:

1.  Accept the no-cost time extension as presented; or,

2.  Such alternative action as the Commission may deem appropriate

 

Fiscal Impact: 

The City will receive $1,240,000 thru this grant for the purchase and installation of 23,000 smart meters. The City match of $2,978,167 is available in the Smartgrid project.  A budget adjustment will be necessary to add the additional revenue to the Electric budget.

RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LEESBURG, FLORIDA AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO ACCEPT A NO-COST TIME EXTENSION TO THE EECBG GRANT AGREEMENT #17619 (FORMERLY #ARE024) BETWEEN THE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE AND CONSUMER SERVICES AND THE CITY OF LEESBURG; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LEESBURG, FLORIDA:

 

            THAT the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized to execute an agreement  with Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services whose address is Office of Energy, Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Attention April Groover, 600 S. Calhoun St., Suite 251, Tallahassee, FL 32399-1300 for a no-cost time extension to the EECBG Grant Agreement #17619 (formerly #ARE024).

 

             THAT this resolution shall become effective immediately.

 

PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Commission of the City of Leesburg, Florida, at a regular meeting held the 9th day of April 2012.
